Answers Bible Curriculum was developed to present the gospel, beginning in Genesis, to all generations; to train believers to know, obey, and defend God’s Word; and to encourage believers to become conformed to the image of Christ.
Unit Goal:
During the 11am service, kids learn about the start of the early church.
Memory Verses:
Acts 1:8 ESV But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.
Romans 1:16 ESV For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.
Key teaching points of this WEEKS lesson:
May 24th:
Topic: Paul’s Early Ministry - Paul and Barnabas share the gospel in Iconium and Lystra.
Focus: Paul traveled with Barnabas on his first missionary journey. Wherever Paul went, his purpose was to boldly preach the good news of Jesus Christ. God did miracles of healing and other signs through Paul to show that what Paul was preaching was true. Some people believed and others did not. In both Iconium and Lystra, unbelieving Jews stirred up violence, and the two apostles moved on.
Memory Verse: Romans 1:16 - For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.
More Passages to Explore: Acts 14:1–13, 14:19–20; Romans 1:16
May 31st
Topic: The Jerusalem Council - The apostles clarify that a person is justified by faith.
Focus: When false teachers began teaching that the Gentile believers needed to observe Old Testament laws to be saved, the apostles and elders gathered in Jerusalem. Under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, they concluded that justification comes through faith alone, not by works of the law. Paul addressed the same issue when he wrote to the believers in Galatia.
Memory Verse: Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.
More Passages to Explore: Acts 15; Galatians 2:15–16, 2:20–21
