Answers Bible Curriculum was developed to present the gospel, beginning in Genesis, to all generations; to train believers to know, obey, and defend God’s Word; and to encourage believers to become conformed to the image of Christ.
Unit Goal:
During the 11am service, kids learn about the start of the early church.
Memory Verses:
Acts 1:8 ESV But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.
Romans 1:16 ESV For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.
Key teaching points of this WEEKS lesson:
April 19th:
Topic: Christians Are Persecuted - The apostles face persecution for proclaiming the gospel of Jesus.
Focus: Soon after Pentecost, the apostles began to experience persecution because they preached the truth in the name of Jesus Christ. They were able to stand firm and even rejoice in their sufferings because they were empowered with the promised Holy Spirit. The first martyr, Stephen, gave his life to proclaim the truth.
Memory Verse: Acts 1:8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.
More Passages to Explore: Acts 4:1–4, 4:19–20, 5:17–20, 7:54–60
April 26th:
Topic: The Gospel Spreads - Persecuted Christians preach the word wherever they are scattered.
Focus: The followers of Jesus were being persecuted in Jerusalem for their faith and belief in Jesus Christ. However, God used it for good. The Christians were scattered as they left their homes to avoid the persecution. And as they moved, the gospel moved with them and spread quickly. In addition to this, God used Philip in a special way. Philip preached to the Ethiopian official who believed, was baptized, and likely took the gospel back to Ethiopia.
Memory Verse: Acts 1:8 - But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.
More Passages to Explore: Romans 8:28; Acts 8:4–8, 8:26–31, 8:38–40
